‘in this delight’

petrichor sweeps into my nostrils
as the droplets begin to dive
i stand and call for heavier drops
to let me know that i’m alive

the pleasure of this summer shower
turns my mind toward you
the freshness i experience
lets me know what i must do

peeling away until i’m laid bare
the moisture soothes my skin
i dance in freedom without a care
until i’m dripping in sin

were that you could share this moment
would that we were close
we’d share ourselves in this delight
and take joy in our repose
